Not sure how many of ya'll are HS'ing kids with LD's, dyslexia, hearing or sight impaired. BUT, here in Texas (and almost every state also) there is a program for free books on tape, through the state. They mail me the books I want, including the free special player. Even give me free postage to send it back!
Lastnight I went through the books, and would you believe that many of the books for Bigger were available???
We are going to let my son read the books first to build his reading levels, but becasue his comprehension is nothing, we will then let him listen to the books on tape for the comprehension!
How exciting!

We found out about it through Scottish Rite Hospital who did his LD testing. They gave me the forms for it, and I sent it in.

what state are you in?
In Texas the program is Texas Talking Book Program
http://www.tsl.state.tx.us/tbp/
Application is on the site.
For the Texas one, you have to have a doctor sign the form, basically verifying you or your child qualify due to having a LD (or blind, deaf, etc...)
Other states have similar things, but I don't know what they're called.

joyfulheart,
Thanks for posting this! That is so helpful for kids with delays. My grandmother lost her sight in her mid-30's and used the same program for "reading" until she passed away 3 years ago. It is a wonderful program.
Blessings,
Carrie
