I heart HOD!

Post by mom24boys » Tue Aug 17, 2010 10:28 am

Day 2 of LHFHG is done and we are having a great time! It's so easy to get done for this first time homeschooling mom. :D The kids are enjoying the Burgess book. And the schedule is going pretty well although I need to tweak it a little. My ds5 has a little bit of attitude that we have had to overcome each morning...but the Rhymes seem to get him out of his funk. They really enjoyed throwing the sock into the "basket" for our Bible verse.

My biggest problem seems to be that my 2 year old is tearing apart the house while we work. He is going to go to preschool 3 days a week starting next week, but I really need to be more prepared for him on the days he is home. I tried to get him to do the art with us but he just wanted to eat the glue stick. I was holding ds0 so I couldn't help him like he needed.

I am extremely excited, though. I can tell it's going to smooth out and work just great! Thanks so much Carrie for all your hard work to make my work so much easier!

How about putting together a special box of the 2 year old. Fill with simple puzzles, maybe some playdough, some lacing cards, duplos. It only comes out during school time. I started with my 3 year olds last year and they love it. I add in chalk boards, travel size magnadoodles, paper with stickers. I rotate the items in there so they don't get bored. I am dealing with a set of triplets so it makes life interesting in more than one way..

I'm so glad that you're underway with LHFHG! We pray it may bless you as much as it blessed us! :D I know how trying it can be to school with little ones underfoot! There are some tremendous threads on the board with suggestions for schooling with little ones in the mix. I know the ladies will be along to link you to some of them or to offer their tried-and-true advice. :D

Many blessings on your year! :D
