Thank you ladies!

Yes, she does love them, InHisTiming. I didn't print all of them out yet, MomtoJGJE, Just printed a few copies, so I can spread out the use of the ink over the year. I'm contemplating taking them to office depot to see how much it would cost to have them all printed up on thicker paper like what the CTC notebook pages are. I'm not exactly sure how long it took me because I kept stopping and doing other stuff in between but if I had to guess I'd say 3 hours. The part that was most difficult was making sure I had the boxes square and accurately measured.

I am completely in love with those!!!

They are fabulous! Did you use a computer program to make those? I wouldn't have a clue how to put something like that together. Would you consider making that something others of us could download???

That would just make poetry that much more fun!
Great job!

Thank you Kelly!

I didn't use a computer program to make them. Just some old school cutting and gluing.

I measured out the size of the boxes I wanted onto lined notebook paper and then I glued the ric-rac around the edges. I made copies of the different sizes of the boxes and then cut them out and glued them on a page. Then I printed off a picture I had from a Holly Hobbie book and a picture by Kate Greenaway. I cut around them and glued them on the page. The font that I used for the word poetry I found at this website:
http://www.fontspace.com/category/flowers I printed that off and then glued it on the page. That's it. Then I just made copies in my printer. I don't know how to make them downloadable but I may ponder on that a bit later to try and figure it out. I think probably if I scanned them into my computer and then put them on photobucket that might work. Then you could just right click on them and save them.

Well that I could probably do! And I have tons of scrapbooking supplies etc. that need a good use as for the last couple of years they are sadly collecting dust. However, IF you DO decide to make those downloadable (I can't help you with how to do that

) I would be interested. They are SOOOO adorable! My daughter loved them too!

How do you know how much space you'll need for each box? I'm assuming they are for science and history too?
I think Jayden would absolutely love this and I have until January to get them all made up....

MomtoJGJE: For the verses and written narration boxes I measured how big they were on the CTC notebook pages. For poetry I made it a lot bigger and I may need to revise that one to make it bigger. We'll see.
holyhart: Let me know if this works:

https://acrobat.com/#d=mjCsOvEHJMZs4yBSA73N5A
ETA: The size of these boxes are geared toward those who would be old enough to do CTC. You may want to create some with bigger lines or you can give it a try and see how they do but I don't know if my daughter would have done so well with them at the age of 7. Just depends on the writing skills of your individual dc.

Ok I see...
Jayden writes fairly easily on college ruled paper, so I think it's fine

Thanks for the tip!

Those are pretty and so creative. What exactly are the for in Bigger Hearts? Obviously poetry - copywork maybe? What are the other boxes? Really great idea!

I didn't want to let my daughter's cursive copywork fall behind so I made these up so she can keep up the good work she began in CTC. The other boxes are for her written narration (not required in bigger), verse(s) of the week, and character trait of the week (copywork of this is not required in bigger). I will probably allow her to do her narration in print but I'm playing that by ear depending on how hard it will be for her. Rebecca, I know you are aware of my situation with my dd because you gave me some helpful advice on my other thread.(thank you)

But anyone else, if you are wondering what on earth I'm up to, read the thread that I started, titled "DD doing CTC struggling reader"

That will help explain why (and how) we are now doing Bigger instead of CTC with my dd.
