What do I need for Preparing?

I haven't gotten my guide yet, wondering what I need.
Last year with Bigger I used a 2"binder with dividers for each subject. I plan on doing that again. Anything else?
Thank you!

A common place book, and either a spiral notebook or index cards for vocabulary. We used index cards with a box that had the alphabetical dividers for ours. Good colored pencils for Draw and Write through History. Seems like I am forgetting something but I don't have my guide right here with me.

2 binders...1 for History and 1 for science unless you want to combine. We are using 2 - 1" binders. You will need a spiral for math, poetry writings, dictation unless you just use another binder for LA and have tabs for grammar, poetry and dictation. Not sure what we are doing here. Already mentioned was the Commonplace book and index cards for vocab and timeline. Page protectors are also a good item to have on hand. I think that's about it unless I am forgetting something.

Will my guide explain what a common place book is?
We never did review our vocab. words from Bigger. What did you do with your vocab. words in Preparing? Of course I was bad and never did buy alphabet dividers for the box, I will do that this time.
I'm getting excited, I think I am finally! reading to place my order.

A common place book is just a nicer composition book that they put some of their copy work in. The guide will explain it. I didn't do bigger so not sure how you did the vocabulary card there, but in Preparing doing the vocabulary cards is more about the process of trying to figure out the meaning by the context, then looking it up and trying to figure out which definition is correct. They then write the definition on the card and draw a small illustration for it. You don't really ever go back over them or spend time memorizing the meaning, but I feel it was still important to do them. He really learned how to be independent with this skill by the end of the year. He did end up learning the meanings of the words just by making the cards.

Thank you LynnH, that was helpful. I figured last year when we did vocab. it was more about the learning doing it than going back to look at them later.
