DITHOR question - 2 boys (9 & 11) use same book?

Hi,

I was wondering, for those of you who have used DITHOR - would it be better for us to use the same book or should I give them different books to read? One will be using the 2/3 guide and the other will be using the 4/5 guide. I also have a 7 year old girl who I can't decide if I should have her use the 2/3 guide with a book of her own. (I should include her, shouldn't I?) But my main question is - to have the boys read the same book or different books? I'm having trouble deciding that and also what books to use. They all look so good! Any recommendations for 9 and 11 year old boys?

Thank you!

Lynn

Lynn,

I think that you'd definitely want to stay on the same genre with the 2 (or 3) of them so that you could be doing the "together lessons" together. But, they could easily use either the same or different books. Here's a link to the book packs HOD has put together to use with DITHOR. http://www.heartofdakota.com/drawn-into.php You'll need to click on the links to them at the top of that page. OR you can use any books you choose for DITHOR as it truly works with any book. (I just love HOD's excellent selections! :D ) I don't know if you're doing the same book if it will make it more difficult to do the lesson with only one copy? My kids are spread apart quite a ways, so we haven't run into this. :?

We started the 4/5 boy pack this past year with my 9 yo. He loved it!! We're finishing that pack this year. (He used the 2/3 student book last year along with it, and we've moved on to the 4/5 student book this year.)

Thank you Kathleen! Yes, maybe trying to have them both read the same book may not work out. I guess I should just ask them and see what they would rather do. They like to do things together - so they can probably answer the question better than I can. Thank you so much for the link. I have to just sit down and look at the books and make a decision. Maybe after I make the first decision about the books to read, and actually start the program - it will get easier after that. Thank you so much for your answer and encouragement - I really needed that!

Thank you!
