Spelling with LHFHG?
Spelling with LHFHG?
Hello, This is our first year homeschooling and using LHFHG for my almost 6 y/o 1st grader. So far I am loving homeschooling and HOD, although most of it has been review for her so far (math and phonics anyway) but we are speeding through so I'm sure we'll be on to more challenging work soon.
I think I want to add a spelling curriculum in though. Anyone have any recommendations on ones they've used that are fun (singing and/or computer work great for her) and effective? Thank you!!!!

Re: Spelling with LHFHG?
Another option for you to consider is to do the spelling from Beyond. It's scheduled 4 days a week with simple LA on the 5th day.

I agree with Shimmer and would get the Beyond manual to do Spelling List 1 and the LA box plans. Then, when you do Beyond as your core program, you can just do Spelling List 2, which is also in Beyond.
HOD's spelling is an excellent lead into dictation. Here's a post that explains how:

Re: Spelling with LHFHG?
Thank you for your responses. I already have the Beyond guide because I bought it for the math activities - didn't even think to look in there for spelling too. Actually I decided to go ahead and move our whole program to Beyond. The Little was just too easy for her. I was disappointed to have to spend another couple hundred dollars but I will save the Little for my 3 year old. Thanks again!
