Need advice on Curriculum Choices

Post by south5 » Tue Aug 03, 2010 8:35 pm

I found HOD after I had purchased curriculum for my 10 yo son. I went ahead and got LHTH and LHFHG for my younger 2 kids. We started Monday and we are LOVING HOD. School is going so much better than last year with my youngest two, my 2yo loves a lot of the LHFHG songs and books. Instead of the Hide Em CD I got the DVD and they both love watching it. You can imagine the 3 of us stomping and hopping around the floor to the 1st Rhyme in LHFHG!
My 2yo this afternoon after school was singing " A-A- Adam" holding her hands up to her face! I loved it!

Are the older programs this much fun? I didn't get CTC for my 10yo, but now I am wondering if that was a mistake.
Has anyone else had issues with the oldest child being jealous of the fun stuff the younger children get to do?

So, do we finish the year with what we have and not allow ds10 to whine over curriculum or switch to make learning fun for him too?

Thanks!

I say, if you can afford to switch, then switch. Don't kill his love of learning. My youngest has had such a better homeschooling experience than my oldest. I wish I had been more relaxed in the way I taught him.

Oh we have used HOD from the beginning of our homeschool, we have Beyond , LHFHG, and LHTH. i remember my 2.5 yr old doing the rhymes with my daughter in LHTH last year and this year she gets into the rhymes with LHFHG. it is so cute.
I have seen many curriculums that have a money back guarantee. Sometimes you may have to pay shipping. You could check into that. It would probably be worth it to have a great year with your 10 yr old. HOD , i feel , is very inexpensive compared to many curriculum out there.
Enjoy your year :)

Okay, so here's my 2 cents! :D

This last February, I purchased all the materials "I thought" we needed for the coming school year. The year was going terribly and we were struggling to get anything accomplished with the materials we were using. After MUCH prayer and soul searching, I realized that God was pointing us in a whole new direction. It was HOD! I wasn't sure what to do, but felt that if God wanted that for us, that He would make it possible. I was able to return all of the materials for 100% refund! Even after the time frame for returning books was FAR past! Our God is GREAT! I was then able to purchase the HOD materials that we are now using! It was a HUGE blessing!

I would recommend praying about it first! Then, if you really feel strongly about getting HOD, I definitely would! It's a great curriculum. My 10 yr. old is loving CTC and has totally changed his learning experience! He absolutely LOVES it and has thanked me over and over for getting him this "great stuff"!

I pray that you'll seek God's will for your school, and for blessings whatever it turns out to be! :D

In Christ,

Lisa
