Introduction

Post by ValB » Sat Jul 31, 2010 4:47 pm

Hi Ladies! I have been lurking around the boards for some time, and decided it was time to introduce myself. My name is Val and I live around Houston, Texas. I have been homeschooling my 8 yr. old DD since she started kindergarten. We used MFW for kinder, enrolled in Oak Meadow for 1st, and enrolled and was very disappointed in Southern Baptist Academy last year for 2nd. I am so tired of buying or enrolling in a program, only to be very disappointed as time goes by. Southern Baptist Academy really squashed some of the happiness and enthusiasm my DD had for school. I had made up my mind that we were going back to MFW for 3rd grade when I discovered HOD on another board. I did a lot of research on HOD and everything I read was so positive!! I ordered Bigger for my DD. Box Day was so much fun!! We have not been this excited about a curriculum in a long time. I wanted to say "thank you" to the ladies who post on this board. You all are a wealth of information, and I'm sure I will be leaning on you for support in the weeks to come.
Blessings,
Val

Welcome, Val! I've been on this board since February, and it has been a big help in so many ways. I have 3 dc who graduated from homeschooling and I have a 7yo adopted dd, who will be doing LHFHG starting Monday :D I am so excited about using HOD. Since I came across this in February, I have not had any second thoughts about looking for something else. I even went to our state convention with peace about using HOD, even with hundreds of vendors around me. :) I, too, tried different things through the years, and had HOD been around when my 3 oldest were young....... I am anticipating a wonderful year with HOD. I can't wait to post pictures and share our special moments. I hope you also have a great year with HOD! :D

Welcome to HOD :D You will be so blessed with the richness of this curriculum. One of the greatest advantages of HOD is that besides the very well written guides, you get personal guidance from Carrie, Julie and many other Mom's who have experience. It's great to have other Mom's to bounce off ideas and so feel part of a great homeschool community!
Success with your year of Bigger and hope to hear how you guys are enjoying it!
