Just looking at the new catalog I got and RTR looks fantastic =) I just have to wait 5 years to use it! Thanks for all the hard work you put in Carrie and helpers :D

Just have to ask though.....are you planning on going through high school? That would be so wonderful for us! DH was already worried about what we would have to "switch to" and we are starting 1st & 2nd grade!

I know Carrie and Mike are in prayer about this. I am praying for the Lord to lay this on their heart and help them to do this. Our support of HOD makes such a difference about this decision. Please join me in supporting their business however we can, through ordering from them and also through prayer! :D Great question! Thanks for asking it. :)

In Christ,
Julie

I have been in prayer about this since making my first purchase from HOD! I just love this company, and can truly see God's hand working through this curriculum. Thank you, Carrie, Mike, Julie and everyone at HOD that makes such a beautifully rich and wholesome curriculum for our families to use. I can think of no better way to bring up my children, than with this curriculum that is centered on Christ.

Thank you HOD! You're daily in my prayers! :D

In Christ,

Lisa

Oh bless you ladies! I am so grateful for the prayers. We are always humbled when someone tells us that they pray for our family. :D We continue to seek the Lord's guidance on this very important decision, but we do want to assure you that we have our own high school-aged son this coming year and will be walking the high school path with you, or ahead of you. We will have a much better idea of the Lord's leading in the coming year or two as we see whether there is a need for HOD to continue into high school. We truly research all available materials before ever writing a guide, as we wish to be sure of the Lord's calling and His perfect timing. At this point, we have committed to write a guide that can be used for grade 9, bridging that very important first year into high school. That may help you rest in peace with your HOD path for now! :D

Blessings,
Carrie

This is our 1st year and I wonder if I should start at RTR instead of CTC with my 9th gr ds since it sounds like a high school guide will be coming out ?next year? My thinking was that he would get a better over view starting with CTC, then RTR then whatever is out, but am I making a mistake?

Thoughts? Before I take the plunge?

I don't think you can make a mistake using HOD (just my personal opinion 8) no matter where you start. As for high school, some states have requirements so that would be the first place to start before making a final decision. Secondly, you would want to look at any possible college requirements if your child is headed in that direction. I live in VA and there are no requirements so I looked at possible college regs. and decided that we would cover World History and we will use RTR and I'll specify the dates of history covered. I prefer to break down the American History courses so we'll probably work through the next two guides and then by Senior high we could use the World Geography or by then I may need something else. As for starting with CTC before RTR - if you haven't done the time period for CTC, I'd start there, call it World History Part I and if you like HOD after the first year, you could use World History Part 2 using RTR. There are a lot of things you can use to beef up the assignments if needed - Carrie has provided many awesome ideas as well as some of the moms. If we had not covered the time period for CTC very recently, I would have started my dd's high school years there but, alas, RTR it will be. I know some families prefer heavier reading assignments or more in-depth studies so you need to look at what your child needs and their goals. The HOD programs are awesome and the best part is watching your child grow in maturity and in their spiritual lives while using them....
