I'm still thinking about my phonics w/HOD. I wanted to use BLHFHG's LA, but use the LLATL's phonics, because I had already bought it right before I bought and knew about HOD. I think HOD's LA good because I feel it's a bit more gentle and I like the spelling tests as well. So I wanted to skip the grammar in LLATL and use the phonics only.
Has anyone used and finished LLATL Red then gone into DITHOR? How well are you finding it worked? I thought there was one person here at HOD who had done this.
Just curious if there were any issues with this.
Thanks,
Anyone use LLATL Blue, Red Then DITHOR?
That's probably me! I'm using Blue level now and was considering using Red. I ended up deciding to just finish out our phonics with Phonics Pathways and use the emerging readers and the LA out of Beyond.
Your plan would work, I think. If it's working for you, then stick with it. It is actually working for us, too. I just really like the looks of the LA in Beyond and love the emerging readers and don't want to miss that. I also want to be "on the right page" so to speak, when we hit Bigger.
Carrie makes it very easy to make any of her programs "your own" by using what works for your family. I can't believe that I actually started by thinking "oh, here's a nice little program we'll use for a year" and now I'm a full fledged HODie! It actually has relieved all of my curriculum stress by relying on HOD!! I get so excited reading the weekly reports about Beyond and Bigger thinking...I get to do that in a few years!!!
Long story short, you should do what works for you and your beautiful dd.
