Just purchased the PHFHG guide!

Post by SillyMamaLuvsU » Tue Jun 29, 2010 8:42 pm

I just purchased the guide for PHFHG along with Leif the Lucky and Columbus. I have some of the other books and will continue purchasing the rest throughout the summer as finances permit. I just had to get this guide IN MY HANDS already, LOL! I hope I do not get overwhelmed when I see it. I am so excited and anxious to read through it so I can hopefully get a good feel for how our year will be. :D

Yay! I'm on the brink of purchasing Preparing too! I can't wait. We are wrapping up Bigger this next week. We've enjoyed Little Hands, Beyond, and Bigger. I know Preparing will be awesome too. You will not feel overwhelmed with HOD. It almost feels like your cheating. I keep pinching myself how I can be providing such an wonderful learning experience for my kids with such ease on my part!
Enjoy!

You are in for a WONDERFUL year!! :D We absolutely loved Preparing! :D

I agree Laura - it does almost feel like "cheating". HOD is so easy to use, but is helping me as the homeschool mom to do exactly what I want to be doing with my kids!! I can actually get it done - consistently...and we have FUN! Woo-hoo!

We loved Preparing!! It really does feel like you are cheating. Last year was my first year homeschooling and other homeschoolers kept asking me if I was overwhelmed yet and I felt almost guilty telling them no that we were having a great year. Now that my highschooler is coming home and I have had to schedule everything for her from scratch, it has made me really appreciate the simplicity of HOD.

I received my PHFHG guide last week and have been pouring over it. I am so excited for our new school year.

When I approached Carrie at our homeschool convention my intent was to talk to her about Drawn into the Heart of Reading. She quickly and very sweetly helped me to make the best decision-PHFHG. I have used other history curriculums and found them to be either to simple or so meaty that I was overwhelmed with them. PHFHG is perfect and it will help my 9 year old self-schedule her days. Plus the 4-day week really fits well for us, we spend all day Wednesday in a homeschool co-op.

I just purchased ours also! :D We have absolutely loved Bigger this past year -- DS has about 4 more units left in that -- and then we will jump into Preparing! I also got to order LHFHG for my K'er and LHTH for my 2.5 yo (3 in Oct.)! I love that I don't feel the curriculum "what are we going to use?" panic this year!

SillyMamaLuvsU - Hooray for having your PHFHG guide on the way! :D We did PHFHG a few years back and loved it. I am quite sure that when you get the guide you will have exactly the opposite reaction of being overwhelmed - instead, I think you will be greatly relieved! :D I cannot tell you what a difference HOD makes in my stress level in the day to day of homeschooling. I love to teach! I love the way HOD has my time with my dc planned. I feel like I'm doing the things I need to be doing, and yet I am not staying up late the night before planning, gathering, stressing - as I used to before HOD. PHFHG will be such a drawing together time for you and your dc - and those books... excellent books that will have you secretly wanting to read on. HOD gives just a very satisfying way to spend our days homeschooling. Be sure to share your box day with us here! We like to celebrate with you.

Welcome to the Board! :D I'm so glad you were able to speak with Carrie, and I think you are in for a wonderful year with PHFHG! We also enjoy the 4 day week plan. This board is also one of my favorite places to spend time - there are very encouraging, helpful ladies here. It's nice to meet you! :D
