Does HOD cover history from a whole world view?

Does HOD cover what was happening in the entire world during a time period at one point? I read Preparing focuses only on biblical world history but not what was happening elsewhere at the time. Is that true? Will it be covered in another book?

I have not used Preparing yet, but my sil has used it. From what she has said and what I've read numerous times in discussions on this board, that is not the case at all. There is a focus on Biblical history in the context of world history. Here's a link that may be helpful. I'm sure there are other links that address this as well. Preparing users will chime in soon!

In Preparing, Grandpa's Box is about Biblical history. Child's History of the World is about many different places in the world. It is truly fascinating! My children liked both books. I learned a lot more about world history with Preparing than I ever did in the ACE paces that I grew up with.

I agree with what's been said already. We found PHFHG to be a solid way to cover world history through CHOW but keep God's hand in history through Grandpa's Box. An excellent pairing - one of our favorites! :D

No, that's not accurate. Preparing is alot more than just (I hate to use that word because we love Biblical History) Biblical History.

However, it is a one year overview of all of World History, so there is only so much depth one can go into in such a study. About half of the year is spent on Ancient History. I think that's why some say it's only Biblical history. It's not but it does spend alot more time on that period than on others. Of course, if one has been using HOD for a couple of years or so prior to using Preparing, their child will have had alot of American history. So, it really makes alot of sense to focus on such an important time period. But, Preparing is alot more than just that.
