Started Beyond today!

Today was our first day of Beyond, and we had such a great time! Even my skeptical boy enjoyed himself, and still had plenty of time for playing in the water hose and eating popsicles. I can't quite believe how much fun it was, and how I can't wait to start LHTH with my dd4 when she gets good and awake from her nap! We learned alot, and had a great time in the process...

Sara, it took us 3 hours INCLUDING lunchtime(which fell in the middle) and the time it takes to regroup after lunch, so probably about 2 hours of schooltime, which is really awesome considering this is our very first HOD experience. The teacher's manual is WONDERFUL and makes my job so easy and fun. It was a really great day, and they learned so much!

Hooray for a happy first day! :D I never go into a new guide expecting a great first day, as it sometimes takes a week to a month to hit our full stride, but when the first day is happy - that is so worth celebrating! :D Way to go, and here's to many happy more days with Beyond ahead! :)

In Christ,
Julie

Hi Sara! :D I thought you may enjoy reading this post as you consider how to plan the routine of your school day with Beyond:

It took us right around 2-3 hours too, more at the beginning of the year as we were finding our groove, and less at the middle and end of the year. Beyond is a joy to teach - I'm so glad you have that ahead of you! :D

In Christ,
Julie

What a great first day! We're getting close to finishing up Beyond. It is such a wonderful curriculum and I know you will have fun with it.

And about how much time it takes-it generally takes us 2 1/2 to 3 hours to do school, and that's with doing some "circle time" activities, LHTH, snack, Beyond, and a more time consuming phonics program then what Carrie suggests. So Beyond probably takes just under 2 hours as is.

Hooray! I'm late in celebrating your great first day with Beyond, but I'm thrilled that it went so well for you. I'm glad the Teacher's Guide was a great help. :D

I wish we were there to eat popsicles with you and run through the garden hose. My boys would love that! :D

Thanks for sharing! :D

Blessings,
Carrie
