What to order for LHFHG?

Post by ALB » Sat Jun 19, 2010 11:55 pm

Hi, I'm about to place my first order here and just wanted to ask a few questions first. I'm ordering LHTH and LHFHG. For LHFHG, I already have a Beatrix Potter compilation and several of the Burgess books, so I'm guessing I'd be better off finding the last few titles somewhere rather than buying the Economy Package? I also already have the R&S workbooks, although we've only done half of the Do It Carefully and none of the Finding the Answers. I was wondering whether I should just stop those for now and then do them later as part of the guide, or whether it might be better to get the first grade Thinking Skills? In that case, maybe we'd go ahead and finish the R&S books, and just use the 1st grade workbook with LHFHG. My dd will only be newly 5, though, so I don't know if that is too young? (She is reading fairly well).
Thanks for any insight! Angela

Ok, so I think I will still get the Economy Pack and use the titles I already have as birthday gifts (who can't use more of those on hand :D )! So, can anyone just tell me if the Thinking Skills book would be too difficult for a 5 year old who has already completed the R&S workbooks?

We started Thinking Skills near the beginning of LHFHG with a new 5yo Ker because we'd already done the R&S books, and it was fine. We paused when we got to alphabetical order activities, because his reading wasn't there yet, but everything else was great :D

Thanks! I guess we'll keep working on the R&S books this summer and use Thinking Skills when we start LHFHG. It looks like fun!

It sounds like you have this figured out, but I thought I'd just agree that if your dd did well with all of the skills in the R & S Workbooks, she'll be ready for Thinking Skills Gr. 1. :D Enjoy LHFHG - I loved the Burgess books especially! In fact, my ds was reading one himself last night as once he was able to read those on his own, he needed them all! :D
