Singapore Math -- US version or Standard version

Hi Everyone,

I am new here. Just placed my order for Bigger last night and am anxiously awaiting it's arrival. I can't wait to pore over it this summer to prepare for school in August. I have two children, ages 11 and 8. I have not yet had my 11 year old son tested, but we strongly suspect that he is dyslexic.

We plan on giving Singapore math a try to go along with the Bigger program, but if the activities for the math portion would coordinate with the Standard version or if we should use the US version. I haven't ordered my math portion yet, as I wanted to give the placement test to my children first.

Any thoughts on the two math programs?

Amy

The US Version is what you'll need. :D We switched to Singapore when my oldest did Bigger. We've LOVED it!! Definitely use the placement tests. They'll tell you right where to start. If your son places into anything under 2B, you'll have to chance to use Carrie's hands-on activities that are written into the guides. (You won't need to purchase the textbooks for those levels as the activities written into the guides replace those.) From level 3A on up, you'll need to purchase the textbook/workbook combo.
