An observation...

Post by deltagal » Sun Jun 13, 2010 6:02 pm

This past weekend I had the great delight of attending the Home School Conference in Virginia. Although, we've not been blessed...yet....with a visit from HOD, I was profoundly aware (since I read the catalogue on a nightly basis) of HOD's selections as I toured the vast curriculum hall. At various publishers tables and vendors I caught glimpses of books that Carrie includes in bookpacks, extension packs and basic packages and I suddenly became profoundly aware of the tremendous amount of care Carrie gives to the titles she recommends. I was struck by the wonderful variety of publishers and authors and the jewels that HOD offers that other plans don't include. So, thank you Carrie - once again. You are doing a FANTASTIC JOB! And we are all blessed by the fruits of your labors.
With Joy!

I noticed the very same thing! I spend about an hour and a half at the Wholesome Books vendor, just looking through all their books, and I was surprised that I saw many, many of HOD's selections in there. It was fun to browse through to see what we'll be doing. I also saw many of the books at other vendors also. They are stellar chocies!

I was at the HEAV convention too! We should have organized an HOD gathering! :) I really wonder how many HOD users are in Virginia.
Now that convention is done (very inspiring too with Ken Ham as the keynote speaker) I am ready to place my HOD order for next year! It was so freeing to go through the exhibit hall with no pressure to figure out or find our curriculum for next year.
It is amazing at the rich resources included in HOD. It's as if Carrie has gone to all the "vendors" and picked out the choice products from each and compiled them into one fantastic package.
I always tell my friends that if I could write a curriculum then it would be HOD. I am just so glad that Carrie has done all of the hard work and I get to have the joy and ease of using it to teach my own children! :D

I was there, too! Next year we'll have to figure out a way to meet up! Although, I have to say, it can be hard to meet up even with people I know very well by sight, so we would have to be very exact. :D

I love HOD's choices, too. I'm really looking forward to Preparing on up, because those are the resources I've heard more about using.

Florence,

We are just back from the Iowa convention and are catching up on the board! :D I was so blessed by your post, as it can be an overwhelming task to sort and sift through the many resources that are out there for each subject. We pray over each choice and know the Lord takes care of leading us to His best for our guides. :D

I agree that it is a huge relief to walk through an exhibit hall and feel so good about the selections your child will read and those that you will utilize as you shepherd your child for the the upcoming year. We pray that your year will be blessed as we travel the HOD path together. :D

Thank you for sharing! You blessed me richly today. :D

Blessings,
Carrie
