Has anyone here considered cutting off the spine of the book so that the reproducibles are easy to copy?

I was wondering if it worked? Did you hole punch it so that it could be placed in a binder? Did you have it spiral bound? If so, where did you find a place that has spirals large enough?

I have also considered scoring the reproducible pages and taking just those out so they lay flat on my scanner. They could be placed in a folder for safe keeping.

Any thoughts?

The HOD books lay totally flat once you push them down a bit. I have had no problem making copies on my scanner

My LHFHG has the spine cut off. I put the pages in clear page protectors so when we get messy, my manual won't. Also I use wet-erase markers to make notes, that way when I use it again I can just wipe it off and the pages are still in good shape.

Almost evey paperback book we have I end up cutting off the spine and either spiralling it, or 3 hole punch it. With all of us we would be too hard on the binding otherwise.

My book does lay flat if I push it down on a table, but when I place it on my scanner it just doesn't work. I think there are a couple of things that are causing the trouble: the scanner is small so the book wants to slide off, and it is made of a weak plastic, so I am not able to push down much without it cracking. I always have ugly large black stripes on the edge of my copies.

I was wondering if the spirals would eat into the words if I had it spiral bound. I also need to know of a place that has spirals large enough; before I could only find tiny spirals. I would also want it laminated to add strenght. Anyone know of a place that provides those services?

You know you could also put them in a 3 ring binder and just pull out your week at a time? Just a thought, if you put them in a 3 ring, you could pull the poems and spelling lists from the back together?

Why didn't I think of OM or OD!? I have tried Kinkos and such, but never those two!

About the binder: I have done that in the past, but I just hate how bulky binders are. That is why I was stearing clear of them. HOWEVER!! I didn't think of taking out just one week at a time. I could place the week in a small folder. If I had them in page protectors it would be even better while transfering the pages. Hummmm

Right now I am using Little Hands so we don't have poems or spelling, but it would still be beneficial for the reproducibles in LHTH. I can see how it would make a huge diff with the upper level guides too!!

Ahhhh-I have a great big scanner...if i had one like yours, I'd probably get my book taken apart, too

the librarian in me is still shuttering at this thought.. I don't get it. If you are putting it in digital format why would you need to cut off the spine?
