What Do You Do For Jr. High and High School??

Post by yaya » Sat May 29, 2010 8:10 am

Hi There,

I am very new here, so first an intro...wife for almost 20 years. Mom to 5 sons...(ages in the Fall-18, 15, 12, 6, 4).

My friends introduced me to HOD and I am so excited to begin. I am still gathering my 'goods', but I am stumped as to what to do. I will be doing LHTH with 4yo and LHFHG with 6 yo. I am stumped with my 12 yo and 15 yo sons. I was thinking about doing Preparing with 12 yo and CTC with 15 yo. Would that work? Am I totally stretching the program? :?: I really want my 15 yo to get the 4 year cycle, but not at his detriment. I know I would need to bulk up for both of them but I need. What do y'all do do? I don't see many moms of jr./high schoolers here so wondering. I REALLY want to use HOD and not sure what other options I have. I should say too...options need to be Charlotte Mason friendly.

TIA~

Sonya,

Welcome to the HOD Board! :D We're glad to have you here! I'll move this post over to the Main Board, so more moms will get a chance to see it! :D All new posts begin on the Main Board, so you'll get your responses there.

Blessings,
Carrie

Hi Sonya!

I'm new here, too, with the same question as you! I really want to use the 4 yr. HOD cycle with our almost 13yo (8th grade) through high school and would love to hear answers from others who know the curriculum. I love what I see with HOD and have been in prayer for our high school curriculum.
Love in Christ,

Hi Sonya, and welcome to the HOD Board! I think you'll love LHTH and LHFHG for your 2 little ones. :D I enjoy CM so much too, and HOD just makes CM work beautifully in our home. We just finished CTC, Beyond, and half of LHTH. I think HOD's upper level guides are just that - upper level. :D We actually have quite a few ladies using HOD guides for junior high, and some for high school as well. Since it's summer, many ladies are on break and are not on the board as frequently. HOD really encourages using the placement chart as a starting point for placing dc as opposed to the history cycle. Just throwing that thought out there, as that placement chart is super helpful and pretty accurate at helping weed through placement. :D Here's a link to that:

Here is a link that discusses beefing CTC up for high school:

These are just a few threads that relate to your question, but when you get the chance, we'd love to hear more about your 2 dc you're trying to place in HOD yet with the placement chart's first page in mind. I think you'll find this a very encouraging place to be! I'm so glad you've found HOD, and I know you'll enjoy it as much as we have. :D
