Two programs at the same time questions.

I will be starting my girls in two programs for the first time. Up until now Jordan has just tagged along. I am so excited for her to have her own school books. How do you structure your day? Do I start with the youngest one or oldest first? I thought about doing LHTH first kind of like a fun start to our day then doing Beyond. What do you all think? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you!

That is what i tried to do most days. LHTH doesn't take as long. You feel like you've completed something early on in the day and the youngest has the attention she needs, first, to allow you to work with the older later without as many interruptions. She may even tag-along with some of Beyond.

We usually start with the younger and let the older start with his independent work. That has worked well for us!

My 3.5 yo used to want me first but now wants me later. So, I put his time in with me at mid-morning.

It has helped me to have blocks of time, where I work with different dc. I tried to explain it at the bottom of this link in case anything there might be helpful:

I think you will love doing LHTH with your little sweetie! It is such fun and always makes me feel like I'm doing something special that's just right for my little one. Beyond will also be a joy to teach with your older!

Julie

Jenn,
Thanks. That was my first impression. My youngest is my attention grabber if she doesn't get it right away. I think we'll try to do LHTH first and see how it goes. I had always thought I would combine them, but I think it's actually going to be better for them to be in separate games.

Thanks for the link, Julie. She is beyond excited that she has her own school!

We do LHTH first with everyone as "circle time." The 1st grader does it with us too (both of the older 2 want it that way, and the toddler couldn't care less who does what when as long as she's in the middle of it

). Then I have some letter activities to go with what letter he's doing that he does while the 1st grader starts on her work (we've been doing Beyond). We do each LHTH unit over 2 weeks. The 4yo listens to the Beyond history with us, if he wants to, and he does his letter-themed activities while the older one does math, handwriting, etc. So he might sort dinosaurs by size or color (for d) while the oldest does math, and then do a dinosaur tracing activity or lacing while the older does handwriting, and he might match capital Ds with lower case Ds while she does her phonics, and then he might do a puzzle with dinosaurs while dd reads me a book, etc. Does that make sense? I think it's more than you asked, but maybe it will help in some way.

Mommamo ~ I love details. Thank you. My oldest will have some independent work time this year with LAs, math, copywork and handwriting. I guess I let my little one float in and out during the Beyond read alouds since I am going to do it again with her in two years. Thanks!
