Which genres used first with Beyond/DITHOR?

Post by brokenopen » Sun May 23, 2010 8:06 pm

Putting together last details of my order... Will be ordering Beyond for my two sons, 6 and 9, beefing up for my ds9.

I'm trying to select his independent reading for DITHOR, but don't want to order TOO far ahead for my ds9, as I suspect his reading level is very high for his age. I'll be completing phonics with ds6, but will also go ahead and order an emerging readers set, and he has helped to pick out the readalouds... Can anyone tell me which are the first 2 or three genres covered in Beyond's DITHOR option? Then I can order 2-3 for ds9to start with, and can adjust if necessary. So excited!!

Thankyou!

The first 3 genres in Beyond's Storytime plans are biography, adventure and historical fiction. Each are scheduled to be read for 20 days of plans, so you can keep that in mind when choosing books (and how much you will be reading each day :) )

The storytime in Beyond is not the same as DITHOR. You will have your storytime with Beyond going through the genres and the order was given by krismoose. With DITHOR, you cover all the genres, but you can cover them in any order you like. You can do them in the same order as the storytime you are doing or you can mix it up and choose whichever genre you want first, second, third, etc. In the DITHOR book, they are listed in this order: biography, adventure, historical fiction, fantasy, mystery, folk tale, nonfiction, humor, realistic fiction, but again you can choose to do them in any order you wish. Each unit is really independent of the next unit. Hope that helps.
