LHTH, for a K4?

I see a lot of people using LHTH for 2 or 3 year olds. I just bought the guide for my dd's K4 year. Is this right?

Thanks!

Yes, that is certainly right! :D LHTH can be done with any child ages 2-5, or even older if a child places better there skillwise. If you do LHTH when your child is 4, your child will be 5 when beginning LHFHG. That is the earliest recommended age to start LHFHG, so you're set on a nice path. Many ladies do LHTH twice or do it over several years with 2 or 3 yo's. In our case, we started LHTH half-speed with my 3 yo because he desperately wanted to do school like his older siblings, and I needed something to do with him that was just for him. We're doing it half-speed and trying to stretch it until he's about 5 yo. The way you're doing it is wonderful - you will just do it full-speed once and be set for LHFHG. No worries here - most of us doing it with littler ones just have older ones we're homeschooling and a tiny one that is chomping at the bit for mommy time.

In Christ,
Julie

Each day has about six boxes of activities. These activities vary not only in subject area, but ability. I am using it with my 19 month old, but we just do the bible reading, music, and letter of the week. VERY LIGHT. However, if he were 4, we would be doing more boxes and it would still work. It's an AWESOME, adaptable program.

It's good to hear. I'm going to be using this for my Pre-K dd who is four as well. She doesn't recognize the letters by sight, but she knows her "ABCs." I am hoping this will help. I am also looking forward to teaching my children who their Savior is. I wasn't raised in a Christian home, but I am blessed to be married to a Christian man who wants our girls to know the Word.

I am so excited!

Ladies,

I just wanted to let you know that we also are using LHTH with my own 4 year old this upcoming year (after beginning it with him when he was 3 by going slowly through it at half-speed). We also used LHTH with our second son when he was 4 (doing it all in one year). We found it did a terrific job of cementing the Bible stories and God's word in his little heart, even though he already knew his phonics and was beginning to read. So, LHTH works well for a 4 year old! :D

Blessings,
Carrie

I used LHTH with my son at church (I taught his Bible class) when he was 3. It was really good and he and all the children learned A LOT. Now I'm using it with him again now that he's 4 after about a 6 month break from when we finished it at church and he's learning so much more this time. Instead of just saying the letter names and the rhymes, he's really understanding and seems to be retaining it even more this time. He's remembering it. He's understanding so much more with the Bible stories too. My 2 yo is also doing it along with us (as is the 6 yo for that matter! ) and the 2 yo enjoys it, but she just isn't "getting" it at the same level as my 4 yo. So no worries there. :D Have a great year with it!

I'm so excited to hear people using it with their K4. I think it's so much fun for her to have her own program. Since she's the second, I don't want her to feel left out or like she's an afterthought. I want her to have her own guide book with her activities and stories. :) I don't know if we can wait until August. We've only been off school for a week and the girls are getting antsy. We might start up half speed early. They really don't know what a summer break is, they just like the swimming! Since it's already in the lower 90s, it looks like we will be fish this summer.

Anyway, thanks, ladies. I'm looking forward to it.

Yup! I'm using it with my 4 yo dd, and she LOVES it! She could probably handle a little more, but it's so sweet and fun for her. We are only on week 10 (went reeeeeeally slowly this year) and will finish it sometime midyear next year. Then we'll take the next 1 1/2 years to complete LHFHG. I didn't want to start Beyond with her until she was 7, so that pace works perfectly.

Yes, I too have been doing LHTH for my DD's K4 year this year. We are almost done! She has adaptations for older kids and we definitely used those, plus as others have said, the 4-5 year old can definitely have the attention span for the entire program plus even more, where you might do only a little with a younger. We did start our phonics/reading program when she turned 5 in January just because I thought she was ready, that beefed up our school day a bit.

It's very encouraging to hear all of your successes with your 4 year olds doing LHTH. I am really looking forward to starting with them. :)
