Bigger Organizing

Hi,
I just saw a recent post on CTC organizing, and I'm wondering about tips for Bigger organizing, too. I've got 2 children who will be in Bigger, one doing extensions. (One in LHTH, too). I keep pondering, pondering, pondering on how best to organize the notebooks, file boxes, books, etc for 2 kids. I've debated some kind of workbox system. I've debated just putting each kids stuff in separate boxes... and so on and so forth. Those of you who've gone before, what is your best advice? This past year in Beyond, it seems like I've always got stuff strewn over our small kitchen counter, and I'm the one getting books or wondering where the book was placed. We have a bookshelf in the Living Room dedicated to school stuff, and it's somewhat organized by subject, but there are extra books there, too, that aren't involved in HOD-- just extra science, history, etc.

So... looking for what's worked for you, especially in areas of gaining independence and easy access. We do have a small home and school in the kitchen, living room, and dining room... not a lot of storage spots. I'm leaning towards some kind of workbox idea (mainly a big file box with hanging file folders for each subject), but am open to suggestion!

Thanks for any ideas!

What I've done this year with Beyond and will probably do for Bigger as well is keep all of the Bigger books in one box. I have it so I can quickly access it while we are working and the dc know where to get the books when I ask them to bring them to me. For their notebooks and workbooks, they each have one of those fabric file boxes in a special color for keeping their things. We have a hard sided milk crate file box that we have in the living room for keeping library books and other books that they are reading aloud. It's not elaborate, but it's worked for us :)

Here's a link to a post where I took pictures of getting organized for Bigger Hearts:

I figured I may as well snap some pics of it in case it would help someone, but of course you can put your own twist on things too.

Here's another post about how to organize the home for homeschooling:

HTH! Bigger is a delight to teach. I bet you'll like it as much as we do! :D
