Can someone direct me to an archive for beginners on how to get children started narrating? I am trying to mentor a new mom without reinventing the wheel.

Also, she asked me if there was a difference between a narration and a summary... I see a narration has having more detail than a summary. What else would you say?

One of the main differences between a narration and a summary is that a narration is when the person is relating not only the facts, but also, their inferences, opinions, and feelings about the material, ie, how the person formed a "relationship" with the material.

If you go to a search engine, search something like "Charlotte Mason" or "Charlotte Mason narration", you will get some good info on this simple, basic element of the Charlotte Mason method.

I wanted to add this. In the Bigger Hearts For His Glory, in the Appendix, there is an excellent explanation about oral narration. In the guide for Preparing Hearts For His Glory, there is the same explanation about oral narration, and in addition, an explanation about written narration. I don't know about the other guides, these are the only two I have. But, I'll bet it is in the other guides too. Do you have access to a HOD guide?

If you own the Beyond guide, you can flip through the guide and the Storytime plans of Day 2 and Day 5 have awesome ideas for easing into oral narration. :D In Bigger Hearts, Days 1 and 4 have ideas for science oral narrations, Days 2 and 5 have ideas for Storytime oral narrations, and Day 3 has them do a history oral narration (using the Appendix for tips). HTH! :D
