Can you, ladies, tell me which DITHOR books are the easiest in Level 2? I want to start with the ones less challenging and kind of progress to the harder ones as the year goes on. I know they have grade levels on them, but when I was at Convention I bought the Amelia Earhardt one and Carrie suggested that I hold off on that one as it was a harder one. There's several more that are listed as harder as far as grade-wise, so I'm not sure what to do. Thanks for any help you can give.

On the HOD site, I think Carrie has a reading level in the description of each book.

We started with Fantasy (because Grant wanted to start with the Littles ). It seemed to me that that was one of the easiest genres in that pack as far as reading levels.
You could start with Fantasy: The Littles 3.0 & The Storm 3.5
Historical FIction: Hannah 3.4 & Pioneer Cat 3.3 (These 2 seem pretty easy, too.)
Then, I'd either do Folk Tale: Jeremy 4.0 & McBroom 3.0
OR Adventure: Stone Fox 3.0 & Dolphin Adventure 4.2

Jeremy seems easier to the child reading because of all the pictures, I think. My son LOVED Dolphin Adventure though, and the upped reading level didn't seem like too much to him.

You could do the Nonfiction: One Small Square anytime.

I think I'd save Realistic Fiction for last as that seems to be the hardest book in the pack.

Kathleen, thanks for typing all that out. It really helps. I guess I was a little confused what to choose if the Amelia Earhardt was one of the harder books. I should have asked Carrie more specifics, but it was right at closing time at Convention and wanted to be respectful of their time.

At first I was a little overwhelmed by the DITHOR manual, but I've spent more time lately looking through DITHOR, and I'm super excited. I'll have a hard time not starting this summer with it. Who knows? Maybe I should. It seems like it's going to be fun and educational both.

I think it would be a great way to ease into DITHOR! Go for it! Then you'll both know what to expect when you add in the rest of your year later. DITHOR is fun and educational. Grant actually asked if he could do it this summer because he's dying to read some of the next books that he knows are on the list for him. My favorite part of DITHOR is the way that it so naturally leads us in teaching our kids discernment in what they take in. THey're guided to think about everything they're reading in light of God's Word and what He has to say about it!
