At this level, about how much teacher time should I expect if I were to do this program with my dc? With having 4 kids, it is very important that I have enough time to spend with them all throughout the school day. Thanks!

I spend about an hour most days. Between storytime (20 min), Bible Study (20 min), AAS (All About Spelling) or Writing & Dictation (20 min), I estimate an hour each day. I continue to do storytime for each guide. Although I know that you could just choose one guide and do storytime from that guide, which would save you some time.
Oh, but I do not do DITHOR, so you would have to add on time for that once or twice a week, as well, if you choose to do that.

I would say for me it averages about a half an hour. I do have her reading the Story time on her own. She is listening on Preparing with the other kids and we also do a Bible read aloud time together as well so she gets that read aloud to her. I am not counting those things in the half an hour. Sometimes I think it is less. I would say when we did it as written it took about 30-45 minutes at most for us. I think you are pretty safe if you schedule yourself about 45 minutes to do CTC. Maybe a little more if you are doing DITHR. For us when we were reading it as written 45 minutes was a longer day rather than a shorter day and we do discuss things. But then again it was not our only time together. I hope that helps a little. :D I know I am kind of all over the place with my description but we are doing it a little different and wanted to be realistic.

Happy planning! :D

I was right around an hour (give or take 15 minutes) too. It flies - and I liked what I was teaching. It definitely made sense for me to be teaching what I was, and for him to doing his other things independently. :D

In Christ,
Julie

Wow! This is GREAT to know! :D I'm going to need the extra time with my little ones next year...and I know that Grant will be glad that he can cruise along without waiting for mom. I LOVE the way that HOD is moving the older ones on to independence so that we have time for the younger ones (without making our school days last forever)!

I'm all ready to make up a schedule for this fall now! We only have 1 day left for this year...ok maybe I should dive into cleaning my house and all the chore training that I'm planning on accomplishing and tackling that grass that keeps growing and needing to be mowed every 5 days. But seriously, I am excited to see how next school year will fall in place for us! I'm so glad to have the super-easy to use HOD at my fingertips since I know life will get extra-interesting with a new baby this fall! :D

It's good to know that for most it only takes about an hour. With a 4th grader, a 1st grader, and a 3-year-old, that does not seem too overwhelming. I also like the fact that it is training the kids to work independently which is so important for those days when mom is sick or has to take another kid to a dr. appointment while Dad is home with the kids.
