Beyond and R&S question

Hello everyone! Since my oldest dd is going to be 8 turning 9 when we use the Beyond guide, should I also use the R&S grammar workbooks? She will be considered a third grader this upcoming year. She will be using the emerging readers but I do see us moving on to DITHOR pretty quickly if that helps. Thank you for any advice.

I am also going to do Beyond with my two this coming year. My ds will turn 8 in June and will be considered 3rd grade. Carrie suggested I up the Grammar and use R&S with him. I have it and it looks fabulous.

I kept flip flopping between Beyond and Bigger for my 7 1/2 yr old son, who went to ps Kinder when he was 4 1/2 (Dec. 1st baby), then we did our own workbooks for 1st grade and this year we used Abekas 1st grade program because they seemed advanced (even though he's technically in 2nd grade...sorry it's confusing). If I use Beyond, I would really have to use R & S english or he'd get to laid back with copy work, which he'd prefer instead of being challenged. I went to R & S website and they had many samples of the workbook pages and it's exactly what my son needs. Check out their website and samples to see if that helps you more.

Ladies, I appreciate all of the comments. I did a search for the rod and staff website, to look at some sample pages, and there were a ton. Not sure which one to go to.
If someone could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

Not sure which book you want to use so I'll just link you to the main page. You can go
here. You can see several samples on that site. HTH!!!

My guy is younger, but a very advanced reader (has already gone through the emerging readers and will be 7 in Sept). We are doing R&S English 2 as written in the Bigger Manual this year. We will take it slower if that becomes necessary.

So if my dd does R&S 2 with Beyond will that throw her off when she moves on to Bigger like are they interdependent?

Gina,
I've not done Bigger, but it is my impression that they are not interdependent. I believe it's scheduled in Bigger for you (it's not in Beyond), but it's easy enough to schedule, as it's just two pages a day. I hope that makes sense and if I'm wrong, hopefully someone will correct me.

Gina,
I'm using Beyond with my soon to be 8yo next year (along with my 5.5yo). I just got our books in the mail and I did get R&S. It looks like it will be a good fit for her. I also got the Bigger manual for the LA and math lessons.

Thank you everyone. You were all very helpful.

What a blessing it is for me to be able to get advice from others who are using or have used the same curricula.

Gina,
We would recommend using Rod and Staff English 2 with a third grader.
Blessings,
Carrie
