So is TT Math "safe" in the younger grades?

I believe it was TT7 that Carrie said she started seeing evidence of "new math". So does that mean that the levels up to that are free of new math? I love TT and can't bear the thought of going to another program. Of course I would if I had to, but I'm hoping I can use TT until around level 7 and look at other options then. I'm really glad Carrie is alert to this kind of thing and knows her stuff, otherwise I would have had no idea.
