Does this list come with book ideas all the way through 8th grade? Could someone who has it just flip through it, please, and see if it stops at a certain level or if it goes all the way through to 8th?
Thanks!
Stacey

The book list says thing like 5-8, 6+, 6-9, but definitely all the way through 8th. The plus side is any book will work with DITHOR. I just told my boys what kind of book they were looking for, Adventure for example, and they went into the library and came back with several options. I chose the most appropriate and off we went.

But, how do you know what genre the book fits into if it's not on the list and you aren't familiar with it (with 5 avid readers in my house, I cannot possibly keep up reading all the books they read! When the oldest ones were starting to read, I thought I would read every book before I ever let them read it. That went out the window when my oldest taught himself to read when he was 3 and was reading novels by the time he was 5 and had 4 younger sibs. :P )

Thanks!

If you work simply from the list, they are listed by genre. If you just let them choose from the library you'll have to see what they choose and match it to genre. I also looked up book lists on the internet. For example, I googled Adventure novels for high school boys and actually found a Christian oriented list of suggested readings. I'm sure you could do the same with Biographies, and so on. Hope that helps. Unfortunately, alot is left up to chance when you do it that way. But I can't personally read everything my kids read, I have to hope they are discerning and will bring to my attention anything they don't understand or if they think they have chosen an inappropriate book. My son has actually done that before, let me know that the book had things he wasn't comfortable with; we just went and found him a different book.

Good Luck,
