Melanie,

I missed you too!

My husband is a business owner and he brought along his computer to keep an eye on his business. I thought for sure I could sneak a peek on the computer and visit the Hodies here, but there was no internet access.

I did update my blog a bit, would still like to add more. Mammoth was beautiful, the sky just seems a bit more blue up there. We had a great time and I enjoyed spending the time with my family.

Glad to be back here with everyone and looking forward to getting to know all of the new Hodies!

(still waiting on your pic Melanie :? )

I just went to your blog. Your dd is just sooo radient in that snow! The mountains are beautiful! Looks like you guys had fun. Did you get more pics of the Japanese camp? I am looking forward to studying that time period with my kids as I don't know as much about it as I would like.

I'm working on getting a pic of me... I went through all the ones on our digital camera and no luck. Just one of me and I'm in my pj's lounging on the couch....dh was trying to adjust some settings on the camera for me and I had no idea he would actually take a picture! It would make you say "yikes"!

I do promise to work on it!

Candice,

I just wanted to pop in to say I'm glad you're back! :D I loved to checking into your blog and seeing the pictures of your kiddos. I'm sure the Japanese internment camp was something to see! Not a proud chapter in American history.

Blessings,
Carrie

I know some of you might think I am crazy actually driving to find snow when some of you are counting the days (6timeboymom) when the snow around you will disappear!

No, Manzanar is not a proud time in Americam history! Such an unecessary situation that the Japanese Americans had to endure. After I finish reading Farewell To Manzanar, I will probably pick up another title to learn more about this time period as well. I find it so interesting, especially since many of the locations that are spoken about I am familiar with. Unfortunately, we did not get anymore pictures of Manzanar. Most of the camp is quite barren as the structures that once stood there have long been sold off. You can still see how many of the people that lived there set up rock gardens around their "property". I think the most noteable element of Manzanar is the absolutely unforgiving, whipping wind that does not abate. Another element that the Japanese Americans had to endure.

Again, we had a wonderful time but, there truly is no place like home, glad to be back!

Now I am going to try and catch up on this busy board and say hello to all that I have not "met"! :D
