Questions about educational DVDs

Post by christyg » Thu Apr 15, 2010 8:55 am

Good morning! I have a couple of questions about educational DVDs. We are going to be using Beyond for 1st grade next year with my daughter who will be turning 7 in September. I would like to start collecting some DVDs to use to go along with what we are learning in HOD (which her little brother will also use down the road  ) I did a search and found The Liberty's Kids series. Do any of you have these? If so, do you like them? And, do you think that they are appropriate for her age, or are they meant for older kiddos?

What about any other good educational DVD's for that age, in any subject? I know that I am a very visual learner, and I think that she is too. We plan on using some DVDs after reading some of the books also (like Charlotte's Web, Little House on the Prairie, etc.). Any suggestions that you might have would be great!

Thanks, and have a blessed day!
Christy :D

We got each of the Liberty's Kids DVD's through netflix and my kids LOVED them!!! They were great. :D

We like science DVD's from places like Answers in Genesis. I have the Newton's Workshop set and they love those! Even my 6yo likes them even though they are over his head. I'll think of some more and get back to you.

You could also try the Nest Family series. We've watched a lot of the early American history ones (George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, etc.) They're actually quite good and made by a Christian company.

Liberty's Kids are great, and seem to be very accurate, from what I can tell. My kids love them (ages 8 to 4) and they understand more about the American Revolution than a lot of adults just from watching these! ha!

I took these along with me when we did our long trip up north. My kids loved them and when they got to the freedom trail they actually recognized places and people. And it really made that history trip come alive. We love them!
