Hi all,
For the last school year I've been feeling a bit disconnected from my children. I've been working part-time, we've moved several times, I've had a baby, my oldest turned 13, and the list goes on. I love HOD, but I've also missed schooling them all together on the same plan. When we began HOD part of our routine was for the "5th" day to be a day of schooling together - nature walks, art study, bible study, field trips, read-alouds. But with all the changes over the last year I let that drop just to keep us somewhat on track with our core curriculum. But I've been feeling more and more disconnected with my children, even though we're eating together and doing chores and grocery shopping. So, today we had a "5th" day. We took a long walk, sketched, talked, laughed, read several books, had family Bible study and a drawing lesson, made lunch, had rest time and played outside. It was a little challenging to get everyone on the "5th"day plan, because we hadn't worked it in so long, but we finally managed and It was so good. Tonight as we had dinner and everyone brought their day to a close I felt like we had reconnected. And I gained more clarity on finding the balance and doing what is best for them and best for us as a family.
