Hi Annie
Welcome from another newbie!!
I cannot give any wisdom as I am still waiting to order HOD. I'm certain you will get lots of great info and advice from the people that know better than I do.
Instead of hyjacking your thread I wanted to start a new one as I have a question for you . My hubby was born in Australia and his family is from New Zealand. I wanted to do History and Geography of Australia and New Zealand with them at some point in the future. I was wondering if you had any favorites that you could recommend. I would love any ideas. I see you did Sonlight. Have you heard of the Marshall book Empire Story (or something like that) ? Would you be able to reccomend that or is it not appropriate. My kids are 9 and under by our fall.
Thanks ahead of time!
Trina
PS Sorry Carrie. I have never met a person homeschooling from Austraila before. I just had to ask.
How exciting to have an international audience!!

Hi Trina,
I haven't actually heard of the Marshall book Empire Store, but I'll do some enquiring and see what I can find out.
There are a couple of great Australian history books I have found, but they are very hard to come by so if you come across one, make sure you grab it.
The first is The Australian History Collection by Bryce Courtenay (it is out of print but sometimes you can find a copy online).
The second is The Scholastic History of Australia by Manning Clark, Meredith Hooper and Susanne Ferrier. It is also sometimes hard to find, but I think it is still in print.
There is a company called LEM that do an Australian History program, but I have not used it myself or really heard that much about it either.
I hope that helps. Let me know if you want anymore details.

Hi Annie
Actually, I was not very clear. It is a book called "Our Empire Story" by Marshall. Here is a link I think!
http://www.amazon.com/Our-Empire-Story- ... 1599150875
The reason I am curious about it is that it covers the whole British Empire. I was born in Canada so we have three countries represented. I cannot find anybody that has read it so that is why I asked.
Thanks for the other books I will print them out and keep my eyes open.
Hope to see you around here again!
