Thinking of switching from sonlight. Need help to choosing.

Post by lil' ladies » Mon Mar 03, 2008 4:41 pm

Hi,

I am thinking of switching from sonlight to HOD, but I'm not sure which to choose.

My daughters are almost 7 (gifted child) and almost 10. I am trying to choose between Bigger hearts for his glory and waiting for Preparing hearts for his Glory.

We are in Australia so I'm not sure if the American history would very relevant for us. I would like to study American history at some stage, but a condensed basic one hear overview is more what we would need. Would the Bigger Hearts program with the extension pack of 'A childs story of America' be suitable?

Should I just wait for the Preparing Hearts program to be ready? I don't think my (then) seven year old would have any problems keeping up, as she is quite advanced.

Sorry for so many questions, and thank you in advance for your help.

Wow! I think you may be our first international poster!! :D No advice, just wanted to say "hi" and welcome. I had no idea that any other country would study "american" history? You're going to probably need advice from Carrie herself.

btw...love your name. My dd's have several baby dolls named "Annie". They are huge fans of the musical "Annie Get Your Gun"!

Thanks for the welcome Melanie.

I am fascinated by the history of other countries. Australias history is not very long or exciting, so it really doesn't take that long to study.

I'm really looking forward to learning about American history. We hear a lot of things about different events in stories and on TV, so I'd really like to learn more about it.

I love the look of HOD. It seems so fun!

Welcome!

I think if you are wanting an overview of American History you would love Bigger. You could look at the placement chart and see if your youngest seems advanced enough for Bigger. And actually if you ended up loving Heart of Dakota I would think Preparing for a an over view of world history and even maybe the next year which will be Ancients could work for you as well after it is written that is. :D

Here is the placement chart. http://www.heartofdakota.com/placing-your-child.php

We are doing Bigger now and absolutely love it! You may want the extension pack for your ten year old.

Thanks for the link.

It does sound like the Bigger program would suit my daughters levels, and the extension pack looks good too.

Thanks for the help :)

Annie,

Welcome! We're glad to have you here! :D It looks like the ladies on the board did a wonderful job of pointing you in the right direction.

It does sound like "Bigger..." would be a good fit for your little ones. I just wanted to pop in to say, "Hi".

If you have other questions, ask away. The moms on the board are so good about helping!

Blessings,
Carrie
