You can sub in another writing program if you so desire, but I do think "Write with the Best" is outstanding.

Even if your dd is a fantastic writer, I don't think anything out there (besides "Write with the Best II"

) comes close to following the CM style of teaching. Excerpts students are to model their writing after are taken from "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea", "A Christmas Carol", "Robinson Crusoe", "The Gift of the Magi", etc. This is not for the faint of heart.

My ds is an average writer, but I've been very pleased with his writing progress with "Write with the Best". My nephew is an outstanding writer, and his writing with "Write with the Best" has been incredible - he could probably be published with it.

I also know Carrie chose "Medieval History-Based Writing Lessons" only after some very long and careful searching for what would be best for that particular year, as she'd done IEW previously with her oldest ds and decided not to use it within HOD. So, what I am trying to say (though I am not wanting to speak for Carrie), is that she was drawn in particular to "Medieval History-Based Writing Lessons", rather than to IEW itself. However, you know this is totally up to you - I just would hate for your dd to miss out on "Write with the Best", and the next level it would surely take her to in her writing.
In Christ,
Julie
