Great question, Angie - and one I know Carrie will answer better than me. But, I do know that if your dd did the RTR Bible Quiet Time with CTC, when she did RTR she would still be doing the "Hidden Treasures in Philippians" study, as well as memorizing and copying (over the year) all of Philippians 1. So, you could then have the option to add in a Bible Quiet Time option for her. One other thought - I know Carrie would like to try to continue having a Bible Quiet Time for the dc as she continues to write, so you could possibly do the quiet time from the guide after RTR for your dd when she does RTR. But, I'm not sure what that quite time will be yet. I know Carrie will get back to you on this when she gets a chance, and definitely give her response the most weight, rather than mine. Those were just a few thoughts I had. I too am soooo thankful for the (Boy Option) Bible Quiet Time in RTR, as we too have discussed some of what we need to, but also have a very innocent ds and know I need to probably discuss more in the near future. I've looked over the books, and they are wonderful. Thanks for posting this question, as others are sure to have it as well.

In Christ,
Julie

What about holding off on the RtR stuff until you get there. (That's the beauty of having a guide.) Maybe try something like the Girl's Secret Keeper kit. Take a look at it and read the review at CBD... Just an idea. Many of my girlfriends liked doing this with their maturing daughters. :)

My dd is also in the first stages of puberty. She is just a month behind yours age wise and also doing CTC this coming school year. I have been thinking that I would use the book on puberty, From Girl to Woman, this year and save the rest for the RTR guide. I'm guessing Beautiful Girlhood covers so much more, and I don't think covering it when she is 13 will hurt any. This way, I at least have the physical change stuff covered before it really happens. Although, we have talked openly about the changes going on with her. So, I guess you could say she is somewhat ready for that special day. :) Like you, I had also already decided to use the same materials. I amazinly find that has been the norm with most of Carrie's guides.

In RtR, the girl/womanhood study (and boy/man) is done once a week, rotating with poetry and art appreciation.
.....Is the womanhood study simply scheduled in the RtR guide? Or, Carrie, do you have some additional "tidbits" for us (special activities/conversation starters, etc) in the RtR guide that aren't in the books themselves? Ang
I'm wondering these same things. And is this study once or twice a week?
Just thinking a little ahead about my growing-up girls who will be blessed by these resources in a year or two.

8smiths,

I appreciate your patience in hearing back from me. :D The purity study done within RTR is twice weekly in the parent-led meeting box. The art appreciation study and the Emily Dickinson poetry study are the other two items in that box. The Bible Quiet Time study in RTR (done independently by the student daily) is actually the Philippians study. So, you wouldn't be messing with that box at all. :D

If your daughter is needing the purity study now, you would only be borrowing two days each week out of RTR's meeting box. It would be easy to fill those two days the following year with something you do with her (or you could leave them empty to allow for a lighter schedule). One thing you could consider would be to do Beyond Beautiful Girlhood with her the next year with RTR, as that is a book we are considering adding to our last guide prior to the geography guide. That would be a great follow-up to Beautiful Girlhood. Anyway, just a thought. :D

Blessings,
Carrie

I've just been looking over the puberty materials that Carrie has recommended for RTR and I really like them. However, I really do feel that I need to jump ahead and begin this now with my 13 yo son and 11 yo son. If we did this, Carrie what would you recommend that we use with RTR. Also, I believe someone else asked this, but I'm not clear do you have any other insights or acitivies scheduled in the guide for the puberty study or is it simply a reading schedule? Thanks so much.

Florence,

We do schedule The Companion Guide to Beautiful Girlhood to be done alongside Beautiful Girlhood. The Companion Guide includes questions to discuss, Scriptures to read and talk about, activities to try, journal topics, and quotes to ponder and copy. We do schedule these for you. :D

The Boyhood and Beyond book also includes a Scripture verse, a quote, and discussion questions. We will add additional Scriptures to ponder and some goals to discuss for application each week. :D

If you get a chance to read my post above yours, you may wish to consider doing Beyond Beautiful Girlhood with RTR (if you do decide to do the purity study as from RTR earlier). :D

Blessings,
Carrie

Hi Carrie,

Thank you for responding. I was interested in knowing your thoughts on material for boys.

Good point, Florence! No need to do the girl study with the boys. :D Carrie's been swamped with writing and convention season, but I know she'll get back to you with any ideas she may have. We are looking forward to all of the Bob Schultz, but I hesitate to suggest these as I know Carrie may use them in the future guides.

Julie

Florence,

Ah! Sorry for the confusion. As far as boys go, we are looking at using Bob Schultz's book Practical Happiness with boys in the guide prior to the geography guide. We are currently doing it with our 8th grade son this year and are really enjoying it. So that would be our best recommendation should you choose to do the "boy" option of the purity study from RTR early. :D

Blessings,
Carrie

That is so great! I love that you are covering this! :D
