Easter Week
Easter Week
We are having such a wonderful week! I just wanted to share about it. I have been feeling a little concerned because we are not as far along in Preparing as I thought we would be at this point. For several rasons, we had a slow start last Fall. Anyways, I really have felt like we should be further along and I've sort of been fretting about it. It seems like there is lots of talk of moms getting to buy their new curriculum for next year and we still have so much to do for THIS year! Then, this week, we began Unit 19 in Preparing! Well, that Unit's Focus is the Death and Resurrection of our wonderful Savior! I am just so touched. I feel like the Lord just wanted to show me that He is always there, behind the scenes, working on my behalf to raise our family up in the way we should go! Easter is my favorite time of the whole year. It's a huge blessing to be going through this material at this time. My children and I are loving the readings.
So, I just wanted to say Thank You!! for this wonderful, God-honoring curriculum. I knew from the beginning that the Lord brought us to HOD and this week has been a wonderful confirmation that He is still in it, still with us, and ministering to us through it.
I pray all of you have a blessed Easter!

Re: Easter Week
Donna,
Thank you for telling us about this, as I think we can all feel behind at times, and we can really let that get to us if we're not careful. I do believe the Lord was planning this out for you long ago, choosing just the right pacing so you'd arrive at exactly that place in the guide on exactly this week. It gives me shivers to think about it. Donna, you are a person striving so to walk with the Lord. I think that is what helps a person recognize God's hand in a situation, especially in a situation that seems to not be going how you thought it would. Just think how you could have missed that if you weren't looking for His hand at work in your life! You could have just been so focused on the unit # you were on that you could have missed the beauty of the timing of the Easter story falling on Easter itself. When I am in tune with the Lord, I make connections like this too, and when I am not in tune with Him, I'm sure I am missing them. Thanks for this post, as it is something I'm loving celebrating with you, while also being something to remind myself to be on the watch for!
Have a wonderful Easter!
In Christ,
Julie

Re: Easter Week
Thank you for sharing Donna! Your words brought tears to my eyes as it is quite obvious that the Lord in His perfect timing has you and your dc right where you need to be! We too have been blessed in our study in Preparing! (BTW - we are on chapter 22 and we're planning to go on vacation soon for 2 weeks - no school! So, I think you're right on track!)

Re: Easter Week
I had the exact same thing happen to us with Little Hearts at Christmas.
Isn't God good!?

Re: Easter Week
That is so cool! I love to hear how God is working in other's lives and homeschools! We had a similar, yet different, "coincidence." We were learning the Fruits of the Spirit with the Hide 'em in Your Heart CD (Beyond). The following Sunday, we decided to visit a sister church and the kids sat in the service with us. What was part of the sermon about? The Fruits of the Spirit!!! My little 4 y/o ds leans over to me and whispered, "Hey, that's our verse!" or "Why is he saying our verse?" or something to that effect! Just love it when God works these things out!
Glad to hear your story!

Re: Easter Week
Donna,
I am so glad that you shared this, as I know so many moms (me included) can suffer from the "I'm behind" syndrome. It is the devil's way of spreading discontent and making us feel like we're never doing enough. But, often when I'm having this feeling I am reminded (just as you were) that the worried feeling comes from measuring by the world's standard and that our Lord's standards are different from the world's. Praise the Lord for that!
So, feel good about your progress and know that you were at the spot the Lord had planned for you within the guide you're on.
You will reap the blessings that come from His perfect timing. I was encouraged by this thread today too, as we have had many health-related interruptions this year that have slowed our progress as well.
But, in looking at the overall picture, I am pleased with each of my kiddos' progress in each area. Although, I may not be as far along in the guide as I usually am at this point in the year, my kiddo's hearts and minds are being fed each day.
This blesses my soul!
Blessings,
Carrie
