End of Year Testing
Our state requires that I test my children once a year. How does this work out with HOD? I want to use Bigger for my 7 and 9 year old. My 7 year old is advanced and my 9 year old is behind.

Re: End of Year Testing
We also have to do testing/evaluations each year. We always choose the testing...our kids have always been at or above almost everything...each one has their own area of struggle, but I think they've 'kept up' and even surpassed much of what ps kids would learn. From HOD plus their own personal reading time, they excel. It's something we all tend to 'worry' about but I bet your kids would do just great. HOD programs are very FULL.

Re: End of Year Testing
We just did the CAT through Seton Testing. My 7 year old, who has been schooled with nothing but HOD, did very well. My son, who went to public school for three years and has used HOD for two, did well this year too. His lowest scores were in math. His reading comprehension and vocabulary scores were awesome! I was so surprised. They were so much better this year than last.

Re: End of Year Testing
My ds has used HOD all the way through, with the exception of one year early on (as HOD had not written a guide for that age yet), and he has tested extremely well on standardized testing every year. I am glad he's tested well, but my dh and I have decided that we will just look at the test as giving a bit of guidance on where he may need more help, if that is revealed. We've also decided we're alright with our dc being just average, if that's their best.
Some of the most average people I know are some of the happiest people I know, so with a right relationship with God in place, if our dc end up to be just some average "Joe's", we're o.k. with that.
But, yes, I am still glad they've tested well too.

Re: End of Year Testing
We are part of a Umbrella school and require end of year testing. I was absolutely amazed and astonished with the my ds7 his test scores! He has done HOD from the beginning of times and he scored far above his grade level. However I would have been thrilled if he had scored right at his grade level. As long as he learns to be diligent in what he does, with good work ethic, serving the Lord my dh and I will be excited. Our ultimate goal for our 3 kiddo's is to become lovers and doers of the Word that is why I am so blessed with HOD curriculum, because it helps guide our little ones toward the Lord Jesus during their school time.
