My church has a relationship with a Pastor (Pastor Sam) in Ghana, Africa. We have committed this Lenten season to digging wells in Ghana to help Pastor Sam reach some of the unreached peoples in the villages surrounding his area. It's heartbreaking to see what water they do have and how it affects their health-Pastor Sam said that when he can dig a well, the chief of the village will let them come and preach the Word to the village.
So two weeks ago my pastor said we were going to strive to build 7 wells for the people. Then at the end of his sermon he challenged us to build twelve, after the twelve springs in the reading Exodus 15:27 "Then they came to Elim, where there were twelve springs and seventy palm trees; and they encamped there by the water."

Guess how many we are building...so far?

Guess!

Come on...I'll wait....

THIRTY-FIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Isn't God AMAZING???? Pastor Sam said he had identified 45 villages he wanted to reach in the next DECADE-another couple weeks and we may reach them all this YEAR!!! I felt like doing cartwheels after church tonight!!
Isn't it good to be the Body??

God is so good! He intercedes for us and makes paths where there were none....He sees the BIG picture. I'm so happy that He has made this possible for your church body, and for those villages. Praise the Lord!

AMEN! I loved how InHisTiming worded it! Yes, he Intercedes, He makes paths were there were none, He does see the BIG picture! How precious this testimony is. All Glory and Power to the Lord of Lords..., Jesus Christ the son of God!

I'm so happy for you!

We have found digging a well next to a church or a bridge of hope school really makes a huge difference in reaching the unchurched. But In India we are very careful to dig them On supervised property other wise the untouchables may be banned from using them. Isn't that horrible! can you imagin having to walk 3 kilometers to get your water! even tho there is clean well next door, but because of your cast you can't touch it..

And we take our faucet for granted. Thanks for the reminder.

Your post reminded me of a favorite song of mine on Christian radio - I think the lyrics are something like this...
If we are the body,
why aren't His hands reaching
why aren't His words healing, etc.

I probably don't have this exactly right - does anyone know this song? Anyway, how wonderful that in your church through your pastor, your family, and others that "His hands ARE reaching... His words ARE healing..."! Praise be to God for the way He works!

In Christ,
Julie

yes-it's Casting Crowns "If We are the Body" I love that song SO much!

And on a brush with fame note (other then meeting Carrie every year at the homeschool conference, that is :D) I met Casting Crowns once! They are all such nice people! It made me feel so much better about letting the boys listen to their music, kwim?
Tansy-would that be terrible?? :-( That's why I'm glad we have a person who lives there, who grew up there, who knows all the little intricacies of this kind of thing, so we "get it right."
