We saw her specialist today and got the result of yesterday's bone density screening. Overall, it was good news! She does have osteopenia in her spine and now also in her femurs. But, the average bone density of her entire body (all areas of the body combined and then averaged) was slightly better than two years ago. Specific areas are worse, but still good news. She's hyperflexible all over, even places that shouldn't flex!
Her height and other measurements show she is built proportionately right now meaning no height loss or particular bones growth-stunted. She is NOT allowed to play on the trampoline or any other similar jumping activities. She is supposed to bike and swim often, see an orthopedist for braces for her ankles, and start PT. We go repeat the tests and see the doc again in a year. Yay for answered prayers!!!
Since sports are out for now, I have found a great outlet for her that she'll start tomorrow. Once per week, she'll go to a homeschool group (like a co-op but parents don't have to teach). They'll be studying World Geography, a county at a time, as well as hymns, artists and composers from that country, weekly "oral reports" (simple!), and lots of fun activities. This is right up her alley! She loves geography and is a social butterfly. With sports and such being off limits, this was truely an answer to prayers as well!!
Thank you all for your kind words and your prayers on our behalf. God has shown us such mercy through all this!
