Hi Carrie,
I am just getting a chance to take a closer look through your wonderful book choices for RTR. I am so excited about all these great books you've selected! I am just curious why you chose to use the Sower Series biography of Isaac Newton over the Joyce McPherson book, Ocean of Truth. I see that you did choose Joyce McPherson for A Piece of the Mountain: The Story of Blaise Pascal . I have heard wonderful things about Ocean of Truth, but have not read it myself, so I was just curious.

Thanks so much for all you do, and I can hardly wait to see you in Cincinnati! We've registered and made our reservations for the Midwest HS convention! Yipppeee!!
Only 3 more weeks to enjoy this gorgeous weather here in Hawaii... :)
Aloha!

Charlene,

I'm sorry for the delay in getting back to you! We've been dealing with sick kiddos the last few weeks with everything from RSV to plain old flu to an eardrum ready to burst. Blessedly, all of this will pass, and I am reminded once again of what a blessing our health is and the need to be joyful even during the little sicknesses in life. :D

As far as your question goes, we find the Sower Series biography of Newton better suited to the older audience who will be using the Science Pack (for those in grades 5-6, extending to grades 7-8) as it gives more details about Newton's life and goes more deeply into the science behind his experiments. Since this is scheduled within the Science portion of the plans this was a major deciding factor for us. :D It also is written by John Hudson Tiner, who raises the quality within the Sower Series with his living way of writing and his expertise in the area of science. :D

We do use two of Joyce McPherson's other books within RTR and find them well written. We enjoy variety and pray your kiddos will too! :D

Blessings,
Carrie

Hi Carrie,
Thanks so much for taking time out to answer. Like I mentioned I was just curious and I haven't read either one yet.
I'm so sorry to hear your family has been so sick! I'm not on the boards as much this year due to my own health related issues (yes, continuing migraine headaches), so I'm not as up-to-date on things as I'd like to be. I will be praying specifically for your family's health. Satan sure does like to attack when we're doing God's work, doesn't he! Praying your children will all be well soon!
Take care,

Charlene,

Thanks so much for your prayers. :D I will pray for your migraines too. I'm so sorry to hear that there are continuing. I'll pray that you'll find relief and that the Lord will give you comfort.

Blessings,
Carrie
