Has anyone used Bigger 4 x's a week instead of 5 x's a week? Any ideas/suggestions/insight that you are willing to share?

I don't know why I read that just as science. Yes, we did this. I just doubled up. For example, one day a week with science was just reading/narration. We doubled this up with a day that required a little bit more. Same with history. Geography day was always easy to combine with another of the days. It wasn't that difficult, but required a little planning.

But you can also just do four days a week and pick up with day 5 the next week. You'll be off in your numbers but it isn't that big of a deal.

We are using Bigger 4X a week! We just loop whatever unit/day we are on and don't finish to the next week and begin there if that makes sense?! So one week we do days 1-4 in a unit and then the next wk we finish the unit with day 5 and begin the next unit w/ days 1-3, etc. This will cause us to finish the school year a little later or pick up the last few weeks of Bigger after the summer break- I haven't quite decided yet!
This seems to work for us! HTH!

jjcmehl,

We do this other option Daisy posted. We do 4 days a week with co-op classes on Wednesday. I do not finish a unit within a week. We just pick up on Monday the # lesson we left off on Friday. To finish the guide in one year we go into the summer. But if you do not feel that you must finish the guide, you could easily take your summer break and pick up in the fall right where you left off. We have had no problem following the flow of the guide or completely understanding the topic for each unit by taking a weekend or co-op day between lessons. HOD is super flexible.

It is wonderful how flexible HOD is. We are also using Bigger four days a week. We planned for the extra days in our last school year. We started Bigger six weeks before the last school year ended. This school year (09-10) we picked up around Unit 6 and continued our progress. We should be done about the same time my other DD's are done with their program. If you are planning for next year this might be an option. I am sure you will find some encouragement that will work for your family.
