CTC grammar

Post by Alison in KY » Tue Feb 23, 2010 12:11 pm

I plan on starting CTC in a couple months. If my son isn't doing well in grammar, will we be okay in R and S 4? I'd prefer to try CTC as written.

Thank you,

Alison

Hi,

I am using CTC with my 10 year old DD1 and we are using R&S 4 and we like it. There are two options written in on the daily plans, one for book 4 and one for book 5. We are doing the lessons as written in the guides and will plan on finishing RS 4 in the next guide. the nice part about the grammar plans is that they are written to be done 2x a week, which we both really like. We also do most of the lesson orally.

I hope some of this information is helpful!

Alison,

Depending on the age of your son, and how much grammar instruction he's had, you could consider doing Rod and Staff 3 four times weekly OR consider doing Rod and Staff 4 at half-speed (as scheduled in CTC). If your son is older, like a 5th or 6th grader, I'd say begin with English 4. If he's a 4th grader, I'd begin in English 3. :D

Blessings,
Carrie
