Couple of questions about Beyond.....

Hi ladies! We will be doing Beyond next year for 1st grade with my daughter. I have a couple of questions:
1) How is handwriting covered in it? We are doing LHFHG this year with Handwriting K. I noticed that there was a Handwriting A available for 1st grade. Should I get this to go with my Beyond order?

2) My daughter should be finished with The Reading Lesson at the end of this year. She is doing really well and I think that she will be ready for the emerging reader's set next year. Which Bible should I pick for her? Or, should I get the Early Reader's Bible and do it over the summer and then order the emerging reader's set with the Beginner's Bible to do with her schoolwork next year?

Thanks so much!

Handwriting is covered through copywork of the poetry in Beyond. So, I would say if you DD has a good grasp of how to write the letters, you could move on to copywork. If she still needs more practice in formation of letters, then you could get book A to practice a bit more then start slowly with the copywork.

You don't have to, but I think it would be a great idea to go through the first bible over the summer and then start the school year off with the next one! That would keep her progressing over the summer in a fun way and assure you she would be ready for the rest come time for school to start. Just don't be afraid to slow down even if it looks like you won't finish it over the summer. Just do what you have to do to keep her love of reading alive and keep her moving steadily forward! :D

We already had the Beginner's Bible so we just plunged into that one and my son did great. He was excited to start reading the other books. Just finished Owl At Home He was reading some early reader books from library ,for maybe 2 months ,after finishing 100 EZ lessons before we started the Emerging Reader list.
if you didn't want to wait til fall to start emerging list, it isn't that hard to start and follow on its own . WE have been in the LHFHG guide and just using Beyond for the Emerging List. the Units don't match up but it doesn't matter. i may have my son read thru summer. WE are in Unit 19 i think of LHFHG, i think. My son turned 6 in October.
If your daughter wants to read , let her :)

This is EXACTLY our situation and what I've been thinking about doing... I think it's a great idea! :)
