Does HOD still have stock of the Singapore Earlybird books?

Post by sharonb » Sun Feb 14, 2010 8:22 pm

I have LHFHG to start with my upcoming K'er, and was wondering if HOD still has stock of the discontinued Earlybird workbooks. Since they are still on the site, I assumed they do, but would like to know for sure. I am debating doing the activities in the guide without the workbooks, or starting CLE 1st grade math half-speed; but I might get the workbooks and just do the math as written. I'm not sure yet!

Yes, HOD does still have stock of the Singapore Earlybird math books - and quite a decent sized stock at that - since they have an excellent relationship with the company and have ordered ahead. We have enjoyed doing the HOD hands-on activities so much along with the Singapore workbooks. I'd encourage you to give it a try as it is a big blessing to just be able to open the HOD guides and teach each day. :D

I LOVE the Singapore math activities in the guide and the workbooks!! In fact, when I heard the books were going to be discontinued I ordered two extra sets for my next two dd's... AND I was placing an order last week and I noticed they still had the books in stock (and NO ONE else does), so I actually ordered a set for my baby that's not even born yet!!! :-) Can you tell I like using the Singapore K math the way Carrie has it set up in the guide?!?! :-)

I think you might have convinced me!!! ETA: Ok, you did convince me. I just ordered them. Now I can stop debating this and find other things to do with my time...

Getting multiple copies for the younger children isn't in the budget for me; maybe I'll use page protectors and let ds use markers, and then take pictures of his work before erasing... Anyone do this?

Thanks!

I don't remember from past discussions; did Carrie say that she might re-write the plans so that the new Earlybird Standards Ed workbooks can be used? In that case, you don't need to worry about stocking up. :D

Carrie is going to re-write the plans to use with other Singapore workbooks, so you certainly don't have to stock up! I just like it so well the way it's done now, that I went ahead and bought the extra books.

This is good to know! I really like being able to "open and go" so I will probably try to order a few of the books so that when I get there with the next kiddos I will be able to do that, especially since I plan to be a HODie for life! And I liked the books when I went through them with my first DD last year.
