I need a list of supplies.
I know a Commonplace Book.
Will I need a book for Science?

Also, the paint supplies....
I need help with the paint and brushes.
Is there any particular set you recommend?

We got all of our paint supplies from Miller Pads and Paper. It was much more economical than our local craft stores. :D Here's a link:
http://www.millerpadsandpaper.com/

For paint, we bought the 18 color paint set:
http://www.millerpadsandpaper.com/catal ... temID=1974

If you just go down the list in the Introduction of CTC, you'll see the items in Miller Pads and Paper's online store.

Julie

Oh! I should buy Preparing and CTC BEFORE our convention if I am going to use both next year so that I can get those lists. Miller's is always at our convention and you can usually save money and get free shipping when you get things there. Plus I like to LOOK at the things. But I DEFINITELY need a list!

And I am SO bad about doing arts and crafts with my kids. I am REALLY trying to do some of the art projects in Bigger and we are adding a bit more as we go. It's a stretch for me though. Good for me and good for the kids!

:)

Hi Anita! I'm am SO with you on the arts and crafts. :D It's something I personally like to do myself, but not so much with my dc. I lack the patience and don't like the mess. However, since I've been teaching with HOD, I get art in every week for my dc because they are doing it themselves, and it is micro-planned a bit each day so they really ARE able to do it independently. I wanted to give you a couple of links that may be helpful in gathering supplies. If you scroll down in this link (which is the CTC Introduction online), you can find a list of the paint supplies needed:
http://www.heartofdakota.com/pdf/CTC-Introduction.pdf

The introductions also explain any unique supplies you'll need. :D Here is a link to the PHFHG one too:

Julie

Here you go, Marsha! :D I just looked up the other supplies too, since I was searching for the paintbrushes anyway. You cannot beat Miller Pads and Paper's prices. The painting in CTC has been a very happy part of our day around here, and it has really helped my ds appreciate art in general, as he now has a better understanding of how painting requires an eye for detail and a carefulness that other art mediums do not. I bet your dc will learn to love it as well!

Julie

There are quite a few times in the CTC where you are instructed to make clay. It is easy enough to do with home supplies but.... I bought a big tub of air dry clay at the craft store and I'm so glad I did. Just made life easier on busy days.

It won't let me search by item # either. :(

Someone else gave a link for something else to MP&P and that didn't work either.

Their website looks different - I bet Miller Pads and Papers redid their numbering system. :? I will take a moment to try to help with this... Okay here goes... :D

40 lb. Watercolor Paper (30 sheets needed, so get 2 of these) - Item #453:
http://www.millerpadsandpaper.com/140-W ... egoryId=-1

Niji Tube Watercolors (choose from either 12 in set or 18 in a set) - Item #587:
http://www.millerpadsandpaper.com/Niji- ... rs-587.htm

Flat Brushes 1/2 inch and 1 inch - Item #2592:
http://www.millerpadsandpaper.com/Natur ... egoryId=-1

Red Sable #5 and #8 - Item #642:
http://www.millerpadsandpaper.com/Pure- ... -8-642.htm

Paint Palette - Item #613:
http://www.millerpadsandpaper.com/Paint ... uctId=1910

Unbreakable Containers called Neatness Jars (or use margarine tubs) - Item #620:
http://www.millerpadsandpaper.com/Neatness-Jars-620.htm

Keep in mind these are excellent paint supplies. :D The prices are extremely inexpensive compared to craft store prices for supplies of equal quality, but less quality supplies may be available for less cost if you want to search them out. HTH - happy painting in CTC! We sure loved it - what a neat way this was to teach art! :D

In Christ,
Julie
