TRL has done it again! My second child just finished the book this morning! Both she and her older brother are now "Reading Lesson Graduates"!

Not only did she finish but she went from not enjoying it at all to reading ALL of a
Frog and Toad book last night by herself!
I remember feeling so intimidated about teaching my children to read when they were little but when we started with HOD and TRL a few years ago my fears began to ease. Now I can't wait for the younger children to get started!
I will always recommend this program!

Congratulations! After flailing around with this and that I finally settled in with TRL after finding HOD and we are making real progress now too.

Isn't it great!

That's exciting!!!
Its has been so wonderful using TRL for my daughter. Of everything I had to "teach" her when we decided upon this jouney, reading was the one that made my heart stop but I have to say after making it more than half way through the book she is doing wonderful! She is so excited because she can actually read books that are "real" which is so encouraging for her! The application of what she is learning is encouraging her to try harder on the lesson even when its a challange. I only have praise so far for TRL and I'm excited now to use it for my next little ones coming though...no more fear!
Loving HOD!! Married 9 yrs to my St. Paul Fireman hubby, Mama of 3 beautiful girls, Adriana 8, Elena 5, Elisia 4 and our miracle of a boy Alejandro 1!

Congrats on finishing, must be a great feeling!

We are almost done with lesson 13 and I was just thinking to myself this morning how much I love TRL and I'm so glad I decided to use it instead of looking for something else. I also would recommend TRL to anyone!

This is wonderful to hear! TRL makes teaching phonics easy on us, and the dc think reading is easy on them too. I'm so happy it's going well for you - for all of you - and this is celebration worthy. Just think, if you never had homeschooled, you would have missed out on all of this!

Learning to read is a big deal. How nice you are the teacher!
In Christ,

mamayi,
I'm praising the Lord with you today as you have taught your second child to learn to read!

It is always a weight off of one's shoulders to complete phonics instruction and to have your child reading well.

There's always a bit of concern in each mom's mind as each new child begins phonics instruction. So, I'm overjoyed that The Reading Lesson has dispelled your concern and helped you accomplish your goals for your little sweetie!
Thanks for sharing your excitement! This is such an important milestone.
Blessings,
Carrie

We are also having great success with a reluctant reader! We are in lesson 8, and I've been encouraging ds to read "real books" with me with a little help. I was worried that he wouldn't be able to recognize sounds without all the little "symbols" but he's doing fine!

mariaw,
This is terrific to hear! It's so exciting when kiddos can start reading real books a bit at a time.

I'm praising the Lord with you today too!
