DITHOR with Preparing... choosing books

I'm sure this is fairly obvious but I thought I'd better ask to make sure I have it right!

We'll be doing Preparing Hearts with my oldest son, who will be 9.5, starting in August this year. We'll be using DITHOR alongside it.

My question is books to use with DITHOR. Is the suggestion to use one of the book packs for DITHOR or the books from the "Sample Book List" for our DITHOR reading? Or should we be using the books in the Deluxe Package from Preparing? Or some other add-on to Preparing?

(Does this question make sense? We've all been sick for days here and snowed in so my mind is getting muzzier by the minute.)

Thanks!

- Bronwyn

Yes you can use either the books from the book packs or pick books from the DITHOR reading list. My son is 10 using Preparing and we are using some books from the 4/5 list and actually some from the 2/3 book list and I think for Historical Fiction we used one I had at home that wasn't on the lists. That is why I really like DITHOR because it is so flexible as far as what you read. My ds has always been a reluctant reader, but he loves all the DITHOR books he has read so far.

Bronwyn,

Lynn did a great job of answering your questions. :D I'll just add that the Deluxe Package books for Preparing Hearts are scheduled within the Independent History Study box of the plans each day, so you won't want to use those books for DITHR. Those books are meant to go with the history study within Preparing. :D

However, you can use any of the book packs from DITHR, any of the books off the Sample Book Ideas list, or any books of your own choosing with DITHR. :D Hope that helps!

Blessings,
Carrie

Thanks ladies for that quick answer!

It is what I thought we should be doing but one does know how we like to complicate things.
