I just discovered something! Not that my dd is a lefty but That I have been making life hard for her for years!
I have been copying her poetry to copy on the right hand side of her copy book. So she has to copy it on the left hand side. of her book...

_____________
poem | her
here | copy
XXXX | here
_____ |_______

I walked in and finally noticed her elbow and hand is covering up all the words! So I switched it.
_____________
her | Poem
copy | to copy
here | here
_____|_______

It took her about 15 min less time to finish and the writing has improved. Now that she doesn't need to move her writing hand every time she needs to copy a word! This was a Doh! moment for me. How could I not see this for so long!

As a lefty it is easy to miss these things. We just learn to adapt thats all.

Kudos for figuring it out and fixing the problem

That's great! I also learned that after years with my lefty son. Because of this, I switched to Handwriting Without Tears for him, not because I loved the style of cursive, but because the workbooks are set up "lefty-friendly" :)

Thank you so much for posting this! I have a lefty dd starting K. next year, and this is such a good tip. I am going to make a mental note to pay more attention to things like this. Thanks again!

Lefty's come in handy when teaching their right handed sibs to tie their shoes! They don't have to mirror at an example!

But they really do also THINK differently...at least mine does!
