Are there any homeschooling moms in Nebraska out there who could give me some info on how to find state laws, etc. and info on support groups in the area? I have a friend of a friend who is looking for this info. She is in Omaha. Thanks

I'm not in Nebraska, but you can go to the HSLDA website and they have all the details on the different state homeschooling laws, plus lots of other useful information.

Hope that helps!

We are in Omaha as well. A good place to look is the Nebraska Department of Education website (the exempt schools section). That is where all the forms for the school year can be printed off. I don't think I can post the link on here, but it shouldn't be hard to find with Google (or you could PM me if that would help). There is also an Omaha Home Educators Network (OmahaHEN) which is helpful for local happenings and links. Again, you could Google...or PM me. If your friend wants any more info, I would be happy to give you my e-mail address.
I am not a member of a support group, though, so I won't be much help there!

My sister lives in Omaha, and she just started homeschooling her two oldest children right after Christmas. She has visited a group that may be the Nebraska Christian Home Educators. I probably have the name wrong. I can ask her, if you want to PM me, and I'll let you know exactly where she has been attending. Maybe the two could hook-up and meet sometime. My sis is needing some definite fellowship and support as well.
