What are some good quality art supplies?
For coloring pencils I have seen...
Osiris, Ferby, Ticonderoga, Prismacolor...

Are there any specific that you suggest?

Hi Marsha,

I bought everything through Miller Pads and Paper. I absolutely LOVE them. You can buy art products for warehouse prices.

I used prismacolor in college (design student) they were a good high quality coloring pencil. They layered well and didn't break off when you pressed hard.

For my 8 year old we really like the crayola eraseable. You need to press hard to get a good dark color but they do erase fairly well. So if your kid is in the eraser age. They are a God Send! I found mine at Office Depot at the "school supply time" I'm sure you can find them in Michael's* type place or a hobby shop or toy store.

I think it depends on your use. Are you making maps for note booking or drawing eagles in flight over the rocky mountains? For maps use the crayola they are designed with kids needs in mind, but if you are going to go whole hogg in too art then by all means get a good quality art supplies! Nothing makes a kid more frustrated than a plastic poor quality brush that won't draw a thin line.

But then again you need to teach them how to care for those nice brushes you buy them...
Hope that helps
